Our programme terms. Before you pay anything, we confirm them with you in writing.
The Private Driving Programme
Programme terms.
Prime Route Driving Ltd · Programme terms
Key points
- £2,999, one price for the whole programme. The learner has as many private lessons as they need until they pass, within 6 months of the first lesson. If the DVSA can’t give them a test inside the 6 months, we keep their lessons going up to the first test date they can get. The mock test and the test-day lessons are included like any other lesson.
- One price for the whole programme, whether they need 20 hours of lessons or 60. There is no hourly limit and no charge for extra lessons, and the price stays the same however quickly they pass.
- Lessons run at a weekly rhythm agreed before you pay, normally at least two lessons a week. If lessons pause on the learner’s side, the 6 months still run.
- You pay only after we’ve confirmed the instructor by name, by bank transfer to Prime Route Driving Ltd, in one payment or three.
- Test fees covered for up to three attempts during the programme. The learner books each test on their own DVSA account. Send us the booking by 8pm and we refund the fee that day. If the learner hasn’t passed after three attempts, lessons carry on until the 6 months end, and any further test fees are the learner’s.
- Not the right instructor? We confirm another by name within 7 days, or refund the price less £60 for each hour given and any test fee already refunded.
- You can cancel within 14 days. If lessons have started at your request, you pay £60 for each hour given and any test fee we’ve refunded, and we refund the rest (section 13).
- After the 14 days you can still stop. We refund the price less £60 for each hour given and any test fee already refunded (section 14).
- Nobody can promise a pass. The examiner decides.
1. About these terms
1.1 These terms are for the Private Driving Programme only. Our other lessons and packages have their own terms.
1.2 “You” means the person who pays for the programme and agrees to these terms. “The learner” means the person having the lessons, who may be you. “We” and “us” mean Prime Route Driving Ltd.
1.3 If the learner is under 18, the agreement is with the parent or guardian who pays. If someone else pays for a learner who is 18 or over, the agreement is with the person who pays, who should make sure the learner has read sections 12 and 17.
1.4 We send you these terms as a PDF, with the cancellation form in section 23, in our before-you-pay message. We send them again with our welcome message when your payment arrives. The welcome message and that PDF are your written confirmation of our agreement, so please keep them.
2. Who we are
2.1 Prime Route Driving Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17346889.
- Registered office: 23 Pepperhill Road, Manchester, England, M16 7PD. This is also our address for complaints and for the cancellation form.
- Email: info@primeroutedriving.co.uk
- WhatsApp: +44 7827 641625. This is our work number and the Private Concierge number.
2.2 Paying safely. We only ever ask for payment in writing, from that WhatsApp number or that email address, and only to Prime Route Driving Ltd. We never take card or bank details on a phone call. If anyone asks you to pay a different account, don’t pay, and call us on +44 7827 641625.
3. What the programme is
3.1 The Private Driving Programme is a managed programme of private lessons and support for a learner who has already passed their theory test. It runs from the learner’s first lesson with us until they pass their practical driving test, within 6 months of the first lesson (longer if the DVSA can’t offer a test in time, section 3.5).
3.2 One price for the whole programme, whether they need 20 hours of lessons or 60. The learner has as many lessons as they need until they pass, within 6 months of the first lesson, at the weekly rhythm agreed before you pay (section 12.1). There is no limit on the number of lessons or hours, and nothing is sold by the hour.
3.3 When it starts. Our agreement starts when we confirm in writing that your payment has arrived (on the payment plan, your first payment). The programme starts within the first 14 days only if you ask us to (section 13.3).
3.4 How long it runs. Until the learner passes, or 6 months from the first lesson, whichever comes first. If the learner hasn’t had a first lesson within 4 weeks of the programme starting, for reasons on their side, the 6 months start anyway. You or we can also end it under these terms.
3.5 If the DVSA can’t give a test in time. If the DVSA can’t give the learner a test inside the 6 months, we keep their lessons going up to the first test date they can get. This applies to any of the three covered attempts, as long as the learner booked the earliest date the DVSA offered when the roadmap said to (and straight after any test they didn’t pass), and hasn’t moved it later by choice. Lessons carry on at the agreed rhythm up to that test. If the learner doesn’t pass it, the programme ends.
3.6 If the programme ends without a pass. We’ll contact you a month before the 6 months end. If the learner hasn’t passed when the programme ends, we work out the money as if you had stopped (section 14).
4. What’s included
4.1 A fully qualified instructor (ADI). Approved by the DVSA, never a trainee, DBS-checked, and confirmed to you by name before you pay (section 8).
4.2 A roadmap built for the learner. A written plan, tailored to the learner’s driving and planned backwards from their test date. We send it within 48 hours of your payment (or within 48 hours of the 14 days ending, if you asked us to wait), and update it as things change.
4.3 Priority in the diary. The learner’s lessons come first in their instructor’s week. Their weekly lesson rhythm, normally at least two lessons a week, is agreed with the instructor before you pay (section 12.1).
4.4 Earlier-test coaching. We show the learner how to find and catch an earlier test date, and guide them at every step. The learner books and changes the test themselves (section 9.3). We can’t promise an earlier date, or any date.
4.5 Test-centre hot spots. The trickiest junctions and roads around the learner’s test centre, practised in lessons before the test.
4.6 A full mock test. A full test run in lesson time, before the real one. It is included like any other lesson.
4.7 Test fees covered. The DVSA fee for up to three attempts during the programme. Send us the booking by 8pm and we refund the fee that day (section 9).
4.8 The test-day car. The instructor’s car for each test the learner takes during the programme, with the test-day lesson included like any other lesson (section 10).
4.9 The Private Concierge. Same-day answers, 8am to 8pm, and a check-in every week of the programme (section 11).
4.10 The right fit, guaranteed. Not the right instructor? We confirm another by name within 7 days, or refund the price less £60 for each hour given and any test fee already refunded (section 8.3).
4.11 The lessons. As many one-to-one lessons as the learner needs until they pass, within 6 months of the first lesson (longer if the DVSA can’t offer a test in time, section 3.5), in the instructor’s car, manual or automatic as agreed. Hours are counted by lesson time, in half hours, and each weekly check-in tells you the hours so far.
5. What’s not included
- The theory test, the provisional licence, and glasses or contact lenses.
- Test fees after the third attempt, the extended driving test, and any fee paid to anyone other than the DVSA (for example a test booking app or service, which the learner should never use).
- Lessons after the learner passes, or after the programme ends.
- Insurance for private practice in a family car.
- A pass, a test date, or a time to the licence (section 18).
6. The price
6.1 The programme costs £2,999 in total. That covers everything in section 4. There is nothing else to pay.
6.2 One price for the whole programme, whether they need 20 hours of lessons or 60. There is no limit on the number of lessons, and no extra charge however many the learner needs, within 6 months of the first lesson (longer if the DVSA can’t offer a test in time, section 3.5).
6.3 Because the price is for the whole programme and not by the hour, it stays the same however quickly the learner passes. Nothing is refunded for a quick pass (section 15).
6.4 Once you’ve paid, the price of your programme will not change.
7. Paying
7.1 You pay only after we’ve confirmed the learner’s instructor to you by name.
7.2 Before you pay, we send you our before-you-pay message on WhatsApp and by email: what you’re buying, the price, how to pay, your right to cancel, and these terms as a PDF.
7.3 You pay by bank transfer to Prime Route Driving Ltd, using the bank details and reference in that message. Your bank’s name check (Confirmation of Payee) will show Prime Route Driving Ltd. We confirm the day your payment arrives.
7.4 Paying by card. If you’d rather pay by card, we’ll send you a secure card payment link in the same message. There is no extra charge for paying by card. Any refund goes back to the card you paid with.
7.5 Paying in three parts. You can pay in three parts instead of one:
- £1,000 before the first lesson;
- £1,000 before hour 12, or 3 months after we confirm your first payment, whichever comes first; and
- £999 before hour 24, or 6 months after we confirm your first payment, whichever comes first.
It is the same £2,999 in total. There is no interest and no fee, and there is no discount for paying in one go. Prime Route Driving Ltd lets you pay in parts itself. No finance company is involved.
7.6 If a part payment is late, lessons pause until it arrives, and the 6 months still run. There are no late fees. If it is more than 14 days late after we’ve reminded you, we may end the programme (section 16).
7.7 If the learner passes before all three payments are made, the rest of the £2,999 is due within 14 days of the pass. If the programme ends early for any other reason, we work out what you owe under section 13, 14 or 16. You pay anything still owed within 14 days, and if you’ve paid more than you owe, we refund the difference.
7.8 How we hold your payment. We keep programme payments in a separate space within our business bank account. Money leaves it only to pay for lessons as they are given, for test fee refunds and other refunds, and when the programme ends. This is how we run our accounts. It is not a trust account or an insurance scheme.
8. Your instructor
8.1 Before you pay, we confirm the instructor to you by name, with their gearbox (manual or automatic), the area they cover and the learner’s weekly lesson rhythm. Every programme instructor is a fully qualified DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), never a trainee, and DBS-checked. If you’ve told us about a preference for the instructor, we confirm availability in your area before you pay anything. If we can’t, you don’t pay.
8.2 Your instructor is self-employed and works with us under a written agreement. They teach in their own car, insured for driving tuition. We are responsible to you for the whole programme, including the lessons.
8.3 The right fit, guaranteed. If you or the learner feel the instructor isn’t the right fit, tell us, and you choose:
(a) we confirm another fully qualified instructor for the learner’s area and gearbox to you by name within 7 days; or
(b) we refund the price less £60 for each hour given and any test fee already refunded, as in section 14, within 5 working days.
Until a new instructor starts, the learner can carry on with the current one or pause, whichever you prefer, and any pause for this is added to the 6 months. This includes switching between manual and automatic. Hours already given still count, and the change costs nothing. If we can’t confirm another instructor within 7 days, the refund stays open for as long as you wait.
8.4 If the instructor can’t continue. If the instructor can’t continue for any reason, you choose, the same day we know: (a) we place the learner with another fully qualified instructor that week; or (b) the refund in section 14. If no suitable instructor is genuinely available that week, we tell you so the same day with an honest date, the refund stays open the whole time you wait, and the time you wait is added to the 6 months. Hours already given are never charged again. A new instructor continues the programme on the same terms and matches any preference you’ve told us about, unless you tell us otherwise.
9. Test fees
9.1 What we cover. For up to three attempts during the programme, we refund the fee the learner pays the DVSA for a standard car practical test (not the extended test), at the DVSA’s rate on the day it is booked. On 8 October 2026 GOV.UK lists £62 on weekdays and £75 on evenings, weekends and bank holidays, and we cover whichever the learner pays. This includes a test the learner had already booked and paid for before joining.
9.2 After the third attempt. If the learner hasn’t passed after three attempts, lessons carry on until the 6 months end, and the fee for any further test is the learner’s.
9.3 Who books. Only the learner may book, change or cancel their practical test, on their own DVSA account. Since 12 May 2026, driving instructors, driving schools and booking services have not been allowed to do it for them, and that includes us. The learner should never use a booking app or service.
9.4 How the refund works. Send us the DVSA booking confirmation (a screenshot or the email), showing the learner’s name, the test date and the fee paid. Send it by 8pm and we refund the fee by bank transfer that day. If you send it after 8pm, we refund it by 10am the next morning. We pay it into the account you tell us, in your name or the learner’s.
9.5 What counts as an attempt. A test that goes ahead counts as one of the three, whatever the result. So does a test whose fee is lost because of the learner, for example:
- changing or cancelling it with less notice than the DVSA requires (on 8 October 2026, 10 full working days for a car test);
- not turning up, or arriving too late to take it;
- not bringing the provisional licence; or
- not passing the eyesight check at the start of the test.
We don’t refund a second fee for the same lost test.
9.6 What doesn’t count. If the DVSA cancels or moves a test, it doesn’t count, and the DVSA rebooks it on its own terms. If a test can’t go ahead because of the instructor, their car or us, it doesn’t count, and if a fee is lost we cover the next one. If the DVSA refunds a fee lost at short notice (it does in some cases, such as illness or injury, a bereavement, a school or college exam, or a stolen licence), that test doesn’t count.
9.7 Money back from the DVSA. If the DVSA refunds a fee we’ve already refunded to you, please pay it back to us within 14 days, or tell us and we’ll treat it as the fee for the next test.
9.8 The DVSA’s rules apply to every booking, and they can change. On 8 October 2026 GOV.UK says a car test booking can be changed twice and needs 10 full working days’ notice to change or cancel without losing the fee. The roadmap explains the rules as they stand when the learner books.
10. The test-day car
10.1 For each test the learner takes during the programme, we arrange the car: normally the instructor’s own car, usually with a warm-up lesson just before the test.
10.2 The test-day lesson and the instructor’s time on the test are included like any other lesson.
10.3 Please agree the test date with the instructor before booking it, or tell us the moment it’s booked, so the car is free. If the instructor can’t do the date, we’ll arrange another fully qualified instructor’s car if we can. If we can’t, we’ll help the learner move the test, and if a fee is lost because of that, we cover the next fee and that test doesn’t count as an attempt.
10.4 The instructor can decline to provide the car if they’re not satisfied the learner is safe and ready to take the test. We’ll tell you as early as we can, and where possible at least 10 full working days before the test, so the learner can move it without losing the fee. If we tell you later than that and the fee is lost, we cover the next fee and that test doesn’t count as an attempt.
11. The Private Concierge
11.1 From the day the programme starts until it ends, you have one number for everything: WhatsApp +44 7827 641625.
11.2 Message us any time between 8am and 8pm, seven days a week, about the plan, the test date, the instructor, or a lesson that didn’t go well. You’ll get a reply from a person the same day. Messages sent after 8pm are answered by 10am the next morning. If something needs checking first, for example with the instructor, we’ll reply the same day to say so and tell you when you’ll have the answer.
11.3 You’ll hear from us every week of the programme, on the same day each week, whether you message or not: the hours so far, what’s going well, what’s next, and where the test stands.
11.4 Messages are answered by our team.
11.5 The Private Concierge is a support service. It does not promise a pass, a test date or any other result. It is not an emergency service: in an emergency, call 999. To change a lesson time, message the instructor directly.
12. Lessons: the weekly rhythm, moving and cancelling
12.1 Fair scheduling. Before you pay, we agree the learner’s weekly lesson rhythm with you and the instructor: which days, and how many lessons a week, normally at least two. The learner then has as many lessons as they need at that rhythm until they pass, within 6 months of the first lesson (longer if the DVSA can’t offer a test in time, section 3.5). There is no limit on the total number of lessons or hours.
12.2 If the learner needs more lessons in a week, for example in the run-up to a test, the instructor will add them where they have space, at no extra cost. You can change the rhythm with the instructor’s agreement.
12.3 If lessons pause. If lessons pause on the learner’s side, for example for exams, holidays or illness, the 6 months still run. If they pause because of us or the instructor, we add the time lost to the 6 months. An unplanned break of more than 3 weeks may mean the instructor releases the learner’s priority days, and we may need to match the learner with another instructor. If the learner can’t keep to the rhythm for a long time, talk to us: you can always stop and get the refund in section 14.
12.4 The learner arranges lesson times directly with the instructor, within the agreed rhythm.
12.5 To move or cancel a lesson, give the instructor at least 48 hours’ notice. With less notice, the lesson counts as given.
12.6 The instructor waits up to 15 minutes at the pick-up point. If the learner isn’t there by then, the lesson counts as given.
12.7 Lessons cancelled by the instructor or by us never count as given and never cost you anything. The instructor will only cancel for a real reason, such as illness, the car being off the road, or roads that aren’t safe in snow or ice, and never to fit in another pupil. We rearrange the lesson as soon as the instructor can, ahead of their other pupils, normally within 7 days. If the instructor cancels more than twice in four weeks, you can use section 8.3.
12.8 An instructor may refuse to start a lesson, or end it, if the learner seems to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if their behaviour puts anyone at risk. That lesson counts as given.
12.9 Each weekly check-in tells you the hours of lessons so far.
13. Your right to cancel in the first 14 days
13.1 You can cancel for any reason until the end of the 14th day after the day our agreement starts (section 3.3). For example, if we confirm your payment on 1 November, you can cancel until the end of 15 November. Your welcome message gives your last day.
13.2 To cancel, send us any clear message on WhatsApp or by email. You can use the form in section 23, but you don’t have to, and you don’t need to give a reason.
13.3 Starting within the 14 days. The programme starts within the 14 days only if you ask. Replying YES START to our before-you-pay message is that request. By replying YES START you:
(a) confirm you’ve read these terms;
(b) ask us to start the programme within the 14 days;
(c) understand that if you cancel within the 14 days, you pay for the lessons already given (section 13.4); and
(d) understand that your right to cancel ends once the programme is complete, for example when the learner passes.
If you’d rather wait, just say so. The roadmap, the lessons, the weekly check-ins and the test fee refunds then start on day 15, and you can still message us with questions.
13.4 If you said YES START and then cancel, you pay £60 for each hour given, plus any test fee we’ve already refunded to you. We refund the rest within 5 working days, to the account that paid, with no fee. Hours given include lessons that count as given under section 12. For example, if the learner has had 6 hours and we’ve refunded one £75 test fee, you pay £435 and we refund £2,564.
13.5 If you cancel within the 14 days and never asked us to start, you get everything back.
13.6 On the payment plan, no further payments are due once you cancel, and we refund anything you’ve paid beyond what you owe under 13.4.
14. Stopping after the 14 days
14.1 If you need to stop after the 14 days for any reason other than a pass (moving away, a change of plans, the learner no longer wanting to learn), just message us.
14.2 We refund the price, less £60 for each hour given and any test fee we’ve already refunded to you. If those come to more than the price, there is nothing to refund and nothing more to pay. Hours given include lessons that count as given under section 12. We pay within 5 working days, to the account that paid. For example, if you paid in full and stop after 20 hours with one £75 test fee refunded, we refund £1,724.
14.3 On the payment plan, we use what you’ve paid so far instead of the price. If you’ve paid less than £60 for each hour given plus any test fee refunded, the difference is due within 14 days, up to the full price.
14.4 If it helps, we’ll offer alternatives, such as pausing the programme. These are offers, never conditions of your refund.
15. When the learner passes
15.1 The programme is complete when the learner passes. The price is for the whole programme, not by the hour, so it is the same however many lessons it took, and nothing is refunded for a quick pass.
15.2 On the payment plan, any part payment still to come is due within 14 days of the pass (section 7.7).
16. If we end the programme
16.1 We can end the programme only for a good reason:
(a) the learner’s behaviour puts anyone at risk, or the learner or you abuse or threaten the instructor or our team;
(b) the learner is no longer allowed to drive, for example because their provisional licence is revoked;
(c) a part payment is more than 14 days late after we’ve reminded you; or
(d) we can no longer provide the programme, for example because no suitable instructor is available and you’d rather not wait.
16.2 We’ll tell you in writing and explain why, and we refund as in section 14, within 5 working days. On the payment plan, section 14.3 applies, except that if we end the programme under 16.1(d), we never ask for more than you’ve already paid.
16.3 If we can’t give the learner any lessons for more than 4 weeks for a reason on our side, you can end the programme and get the refund in section 14.
17. What the learner needs to do
17.1 The learner must:
(a) have passed the theory test before the programme starts. A theory pass lasts two years, and the practical test must be taken before it runs out. If it does run out, the learner must pass the theory test again, at their own cost, before taking the practical test;
(b) hold a valid provisional driving licence, and bring it to every lesson and every test;
(c) be able to read a number plate from 20 metres, wearing glasses or contact lenses if they need them;
(d) be fit to drive, and tell the DVLA about any medical condition that affects driving;
(e) book every practical test on their own DVSA account, never through an app or service, and send us the booking confirmation. The first test is booked as the roadmap sets out, normally within 7 days of the programme starting, unless one is already booked;
(f) turn up on time, ready to learn, and never under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
(g) follow the instructor’s instructions; and
(h) tell us about anything that might affect the lessons or the test.
17.2 If the learner is under 18, a parent or guardian is our contact for anything about money or arrangements, and we may contact them about anything affecting the learner’s welfare.
18. No promise of a pass
Nobody can promise a pass. The examiner decides. We don’t promise a pass, a test date, an earlier test, or that the learner will be ready in a set number of hours or weeks. What we do promise is in these terms.
19. Our responsibility to you
19.1 We must provide the programme with reasonable care and skill, and what we told you about it before you paid (on the programme page, on the call and in our messages) is part of our agreement. If we fall short, tell us and we’ll put it right. If we can’t, you may be entitled to some money back. Nothing in these terms takes away your legal rights. Citizens Advice can tell you more about them.
19.2 We’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not using reasonable care and skill. We’re not responsible for loss or damage that wasn’t foreseeable.
19.3 Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or our instructors’, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t let us limit.
19.4 Some things are outside our control, such as DVSA test availability, tests the DVSA cancels, or severe weather. If one of them delays the programme, we’ll tell you as soon as we can and do what we can to keep it moving. Section 3.5 covers a test the DVSA can’t offer inside the 6 months.
20. Complaints
20.1 Message us on our work number, WhatsApp +44 7827 641625, or email info@primeroutedriving.co.uk. You’ll have a full reply within two working days.
20.2 If a complaint is about the instructor, we can pause lessons while we look into it, and we add that time to the 6 months.
20.3 If you’re still not happy, you can get free advice from Citizens Advice, and you can complain to the DVSA about a driving instructor’s conduct.
21. Your information
21.1 We use your details and the learner’s to run the programme. We share the learner’s name, phone number, pick-up area, gearbox, test details and lesson needs with their instructor. We keep a record of our messages and payments, including your YES START, as proof of what was agreed.
21.2 Our privacy notice, linked at the foot of the programme page, explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights, including how to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
22. The small print
22.1 We won’t change the terms of your programme after you’ve paid unless you agree in writing, or a change in the law or the DVSA’s rules makes it necessary. If that happens, we’ll tell you how it affects you.
22.2 If a court decides that part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still apply.
22.3 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts there.
23. Cancellation form (optional)
You don’t have to use this form. A plain message on WhatsApp or by email works just as well.
